April marks Earth Month—a perfect time to reflect on the beauty of our planet and explore meaningful ways to protect and preserve it.

At DCC, we recognize our responsibility to both our customers and the environment. That’s why sustainability is at the core of our mission, driving us to continuously innovate and improve our energy and material consumption efficiency so that we can do more with less and make a lasting positive impact on the planet.

Over the years, we’ve undertaken numerous transformational sustainability initiatives to contribute to a greener future. Here are a few of the key ways we’re making a difference:

FSC Certification

Since 2007, we’ve been a certified Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) printer. This certification

guarantees that our paper products come from responsibly managed forests, promoting sustainable forestry practices and helping to preserve biodiversity. By supporting FSC, we’re contributing to the protection of forests worldwide, ensuring they remain healthy for future generations.

Solar Power

In 2010, we took a significant step toward reducing our carbon footprint by installing 675 rooftop

solar panels to power our New Jersey printing facility with clean, renewable energy. This

investment has made a big impact, helping us save an estimated 296,974 lbs of CO2 emissions annually.

SGP Certification

As a member of the Sustainable Green Printing Partnership (SGP) since 2015, we uphold the highest standards for sustainable printing practices. The SGP certification not only ensures that we meet rigorous environmental guidelines but also drives continuous improvement in our operations. It’s our commitment to making green practices an integral part of everything we do, from production to packaging.

Ancient Forest-Friendly Procurement PolicyIn 2019, we adopted an Ancient Forest-Friendly Procurement Policy to help protect the world’s most vital and endangered forests. By working closely with suppliers and customers, we promote sustainable forest management and develop eco-friendly paper solutions that combat deforestation and climate change. This policy supports the preservation of ecosystems while ensuring that our materials come from responsible sources.

Water Conservation and Reclamation

We minimize water usage in our production process and responsibly manage any water discharged, ensuring it is treated and recycled at local municipal treatment plants. Last year, we also installed water stations throughout our facilities and provided each employee with a DCC-branded reusable water bottle. To date, we’ve prevented 15,000 plastic water bottles from being wasted in landfills.

Pack4Good

As a partner in Canopy’s Pack4Good Project, we focus on creating sustainable paper-based packaging that avoids fiber from ancient forests. Our packaging designs prioritize high-recycled content and support the development of solutions that reduce waste and preserve ecosystems.

Paper and Pressroom Practices

  • 90% of the paper we use is FSC-certified.
  • 95% of the paper we use is recycled.
  • We use vegetable-based inks received in reusable barrels.
  • We recycle 20 tons of aluminum plates annually.
  • We use alcohol-free blanket wash.
  • We use reusable rags.
  • We use reusable skids.

These sustainability initiatives reflect our ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship. At DCC, we’re proud of the progress we’ve made, but we know there’s always more to be done.
